Meditative
upcoming release
In Moira’s words: “The album Meditative is inspired by my experiences in clinical settings and my involvement in public health and community-based projects that incorporate the healing and performing arts. In response to requests from medical professionals, patients, and clients, I have decided to record an album that delves into the impact of sound on human health and wellness.
The album Meditative is a collection of original works for piano and sound therapy instruments. The music is specifically composed to activate the parasympathetic response, which is responsible for the "rest and digest" state of the nervous system. This music is ideal for patients to take home as a soundtrack to aid in their healing journey. It also offers support for healthcare and holistic providers who need relaxing music and sounds to assist with their treatments. The music is designed to accompany mindfulness meditations and healing sessions and is suitable for anyone looking to unwind.
Meditative emphasizes the concept of ‘space’ through slow development and repetitions. This approach helps to create a calming and continuous flow that is intended to be relaxing for the listener. The harmonic progressions and sound sequences aim to convey the idea of stillness while using instrumental compositions that use the breath as an anchor, encouraging the listener to mindfully connect with themselves.”

reconnection to self
Reconnection to Self is a multidisciplinary art film by Moira Lo Bianco and Kimberly Prosa showcasing integrative practices that explore the mind-body connection through sound and movement.
Inspired by Johan Hari’s sociological studies of disconnection in relation to increased levels of overall societal anxiety and depression, this project conducts investigative movement- and music-based research in order to develop a methodology for understanding how movement and sound can support the process of meaningful reconnection to the self and community.
Sound incorporates sound therapy practices and instruments like Himalayan singing bowls and tuning forks, as well as original piano music. Movement draws from yoga and traditional medicine practices merged with modern dance styles.
